Apple’s Think Different TV commercial, in good quality…

As many of my friends already know, im working on an online archive of Apple related commercials and institutional videos, so well, some days ago i received a series of uMatic tapes, and i found this inside one of them.

This is, in my humble opinion, one of the better (if not the better one) examples of clean institutional advertising & branding, and one of those commercials that “touch your heart”.
Quick Tip: In recent pre-releases of Mac OS X Leopard, you will find the whole narration for this commercial in the high resolution icon of the “Text Edit” application.

I hope you enjoy this, because you wont find a better quality version in the whole web ;)
Please note that you will need a 512kbps internet connection (or faster) in order to watch this video without interruptions.

Quote from Wikipedia: “Think Different was an advertising slogan created for Apple Computer in the late 1990s by the Los Angeles office of advertising agency TBWA\Chiat\Day. It was used in a famous television commercial, several print advertisements, and several television advertisements for Apple products. Apple’s use of the slogan was discontinued with the start of the Apple Switch ad campaign in 2002. The slogan may have been a play on the venerable IBM Think motto coined by Thomas J. Watson.”

  1. Any chance you can post the video for download (rather than an embedded flash player)? My poor internet connection cannot handle it!

  2. Hi there Vipul, im sorry, but at the moment i can’t allow free downloads of the video stream. As far as i know, it is OK and legal to re-broadcast a TV Commercial on a website, for historical and archival purposes giving the proper copyright and credits, but offering “free downloads” of the material is not OK, because i simply don’t own the copyright for the video. I am planning to add a “low bandwidth” option in the future for people with really slow internet connections, but dont expect miracles though :/, watching video on the web with less than 512kbps is almost impossible.
    Thanks. Diego.

  6. Hi Diego.
I’m a fan of apple computers a long time, and i agree this is the most beautifull comercial about all i’ve ever seen. I have a version in low resolution, that i got from wikipédia, and i’ve been looking for a better quality for a long time. First, i’d like to tel you that, if this comercial is in the wikipédia, for download, for personal use, so you can offer it for fownload too. Anyway, you can send it by e-mail, so won’t desagree in any copyright laws. The motive i’m asking this for you is simple. This comercial make people believe in their dreams, in their perspective of a better life. Share it with anyone who asks you. You will note that people will react with a very nice particular simpaty about you.
    Thak you for attention.

  13. I can’t believe that you think posting a TV commercial that’s been seen a million times over the last 8 years is somehow a violation of something. TV commercials are MADE to be seen as much as possible. They’re free. In fact the company pays to get you to see them. Geez what a world we live in where people make up laws against themselves.
